
Types of diabetes
Type 1: The immune system destroys the pancreatic cells that produce insulin. Lifelong administration of insulin is required.
Type 2: The body either does not produce enough insulin, or the cells do not respond to it (insulin resistance). It is often associated with obesity and poor nutrition.
Gestational: Develops during pregnancy and usually resolves after childbirth.
The main symptoms
Constant intense thirst and dry mouth.
Frequent urge to urinate (especially at night).
Unexplained fatigue, weakness.
Uncontrolled weight loss (with a good appetite).
Long-term wound healing, ulcers, fungal infections.
Tingling and numbness in the arms and legs (neuropathy)
